This or the Rog Ally X ? Curious to see what other people think. I can’t decide which one to buy.

I would dearly love an Amstrad CPC 464 emulator with all the games to play on it. It was my first taste of computer games back in 1982 I didn’t know any gamers especially other girls. I was an only child and came from a one parent family and my late mum sacrificed so much to get that computer for me especially as money was tight. She got it for me to keep me at home while she was at work so I didn’t get into trouble on the streets. When she got home from work it was the thing that bonded us playing all the games together. I have so many happy memories of playing Amstrad CPC 464 games with her. That’s what I would dearly love.

my top console pick has to be NES and its full library of games. Unlike some I actually had a NES as a kid. But I was only 8 at the time and we didnt get to buy many games. The games we had were Super Mario Bros, Kung Fu and Gyromite (yes I had the bot that broke within the first 2 weeks but I still managed to play the game). Because my family wasnt rich we didnt buy any other games so many Sat afternoons were spent on these 3 games. So I always wished I could have explored more of the library. I think mfg should support and work with cfw. This will free up mfg time to concentrate on hw development. It also helps sells more units when end users dont need to figure out how to update to cfw. Considering this day and age where people are used to plug-n-play setups, having to update to cfw is a deterrent for many non-tech savvy people.

The GPD handhelds looks so goofy (and terribly un-ergonomic) at that point, just get a gaming laptop.

I nearly always try custom firmwares and so i think manufacturers should definitely work with developers as the end product is more likely to appeal to buyers and hence they would sell more units. Perfect business sense.

I would love to have a SNES. My family had a NES and a PS1 growing up so it would be nice to experience the middle ground between those two and experience those classic games

My answer would be the SNES, I was lucky enough to experience it first time around, the anticipation around a big release, ordering a converter you would put a PAL cart in the back of to play USA carts.. I remember when my local game market stall got a copy of SSF2 in, I must’ve traded at least 10 boxed games in 😢but it was worth it to see that big beautiful Ryu in all his glory 😂 what an era!

The pre PS1 console would be the NES. Throwaway my childhood console about 15 years ago and have regretted it ever since. The games I would look forward to most would be Dragon Warrior, Pin Bot, RC pro am, and Legendary Wings!

Is there any overheating issues with the win 4? Is there ever any issues docking it, using an egpu, maxing out the tdp and playing triple AAA games? Does the external 4g lte module effect cooling? This thing looks super tempting...

I will say sega genesis simply for the arcade games (specifically golden axe). i grew up with nintendo consoles and never had a sega product. but i loved spending time after school in the back of a mom & pop candy shop playing arcade games. my friends and i spent so much time playing golden axe and still one of my fondest childhood memories. i support cfw and think they help boost the user exp especially when mfg dont spend the time needed to do a better job on OS. i dont have a mm or mm+ but i know through all my reading the os was terrible and the consoles would never have been blockbuster sellers if cfw onion never came through.

The Mega Drive! Sonic was and still IS simply epic.

Still on the fence of buying it. Just got the powkiddy v90, and the power is a bit lacking, but i love the form factor

If I could get any pre ps1 system with all its games it would definitely be the SNES. That system will always hold a special place in my heart since it was the first system I owned. Also the games for it have held up really well and are still fun to go back and play. As far as the firmware question goes I’ll be honest in that I have yet to pull the trigger on buying a emulation device because I’m still undecided as to which one and am doing research still but as a brand new customer I would definitely appreciate it if it came with custom firmware because from what I’ve seen so far custom firmware tends to get the best out of these devices.

To me if it’s running frameskip then the game is not running “fine” you can’t say a game is running good when it’s literally running at half the frame rate.

My pick for owning a retro console and it’s completely collection is the Neo-Geo. It’s one of the most unique home consoles ever. It brought actual arcade games to a home console and its rarity makes it highly collectible. Also, who else had full on joysticks on the consoles in 1990.

Id probably love to have the SNES because the library is insane and I've never owned one before so it would be interesting not to mention it has two player capabilities so it would be super fun to play with the fam. For custom firmwares If possible I usually always apply one to my handhelds. They usually add better performance and more ui customization/ or simplify ui(ex: Min UI). I dont think manufactures should include a cfw because typically the sd cards they use are quite cheap and prone to failure.

pre ps1 console I would like to have ? An Atari 2600 all games with ET nemesis included because of the completitionist bug. Friends and family around the Atari with burgers beer and sodas are lasting memories.

The fact it costs as much or more than 14 inch laptops with rtx 3000s series and up is what discourages me from this device

Definitely SNES, a diverse library and it's aged the best out of all of the retro consoles in my opinion

Of all the pre-PA1 era consoles, I would love to own the SNES. It wasn't widely available in my country, and I was too busy lusting after the Sega Mega Drive that I totally missed it. I never got a Mega Drive either, but I had a couple of 30-in-1 Famiclone bootlegs that kept me busy for a few years until I managed to save up for a big green DMG Game Boy in 1997. So many great games from back then, and in this era of easy and available emulation, I'm still exploring and discovering SNES gems regularly. As for CFW, the manufacturer's software is usually "good enough," but the community almost always does a better job of unlocking a device's full potential. CFW just gives you more bang for your buck, so I don't hesitate to load it as soon as I get a new device, especially if it just requires loading up a fresh SD card. You can always drop the stock SD in a drawer.

Would this PC work to run on the 57" Samsung Odyssey G9 monitor?

I would say Game Boy with all the games. I remember getting a Red Pocket Gameboy for Kindergarten Graduation. My aunt had the Original DMG with tetris, tmnt Fall of the Footclan, Paperboy and Super Mario Land. I still have the Red Pocket and my aunts Games. Her DMG was sadly lost but I have a soft spot for the Gameboy... and GBA lol. Having them all would be a childhood dream. I use custom firmware, they should support them. it allows me to maybe use the handheld in a better state that maybe emulating other systems better. But I'm more out of the box kinda guy. If they would fix the bugs with updates and makes it more useable, I'll switch back to the original updated firmware. Since if they do switch to like Onion Os or Garlic Os and ship it out, they should support them.

I'm very much a Nintendo guy, so the console I would like to have all game of is the SNES. The nostalgic feeling I get whenever I turn on this console is insane, so to have all the games for it would be really niece.

My choice would be SNES! I grew up with NES / PS1 / Dreamcast because that's what my bro brought and what I played with (beggars cant be chooser). I loved NES most so was always disappointed that my bro never got SNES. So this is the console I probably will want the most :) Edit for the add'l question: I think mfg's should support CFW and work with CFW developers. I dont have the A30 but have been reading up on it and it seems every person recommends jumping straight to Spruce for this vs the stock FW. So its pretty obvious stock FW is lacking. And this seems to be the case with a lot of the retro handhelds. I have the Anbernic RG505 as my retro handheld and went straight to GammaOS because that's what the community recommended. I like the miyoo a30 and have been thinking about getting it but keep flipping around between A30 vs Anbernic rg35xx. Mainly want to use it as a companion device to my RG505 which only goes out with me on vacation trip. I want something small and portable to use as an everyday commuter device (1+hrs train rides). I like the a30 size BUT afraid screen too small, but then with the rg35xx, I'm afraid its too big.

I know I’m on the edge of the definition, but the console i’d like to have the whole game collection is the Amiga - mainly to relive my childhood
